Don’t Let Winter Wither Your Style

When it comes to the holiday season there are always a million and one things on your mind, from finishing off projects at work before the festive period properly kicks in to making sure you’ve got all your Christmas shopping done. There’s one thing you don’t want to neglect in the fray though, and that’s your winter wardrobe. Make sure you feel good about yourself no matter how fast you’re running by making sure you choose versatile and attractive holiday attire.

The best way to be guaranteed you’re looking good no matter what’s going in this Christmas is by making sure you’ve got the basics right. How many times have you had a good outfit ruined by something unexpected like a hole in your tights or a burst button? Little problems like these can put you right off your stride on the shopping run or have you blushing over the drinks at your office party so be prepared by stashing a spare pair of tights in your bag alongside a mini sewing kit — they are honestly invaluable!

Once you’ve got your emergency bases covered you can start thinking about making a splash and the best way to do it in bad weather. There’s a one word answer for the question of how to carry off winter in style, and that’s layers! Not only do lots of thin layers keep in the heat better than one thick one, but they can give you a wonderfully dynamic silhouette with very little effort too. So don’t let the bad weather put you off your party dress, accessorise it with a shrug, cardigan, leg warmers elbow length gloves and a good hat and scarf instead. That way you’ll be cosy enough to make your trip but you’ll still be ready to party when you make it to your destination.

If you’re a fan of trousers then never fear, skinny jeans are still here and they are perfect for the winter season. Unlike their baggier counterparts, skinny jeans don’t trail on the wet ground and are also great for tucking into your boots when the chill is really in the air. If you want to jazz them up a little when you get inside though, a light pair of sparkling ballet shoes is a great way to add some festive cheer to your outfit.

Whatever you do in the winter though, make sure you have a good umbrella in your bag to keep your party dresses and tops dry should the need arise!
