Fitted shoes

Are you making excuses for not walking because of tired feet?  It could be your improperly fitting shoes.  Are they uncomfortable and tight? Do your shoes leave marks on you feet when you prise them off your throbbing feet at the end of a long day??  We get our children’s feet measured for correctly fitting shoes so should we stop this when we are adults and have stopped growing?  Is it because we no longer care about our shoes or what they are doing to our feet or is it that commercially it isn’t viable for the manufacturers to produce the amount of shoes necessary to fit every foot size and shape?

There are steps you can go to find a pair of shoes that fit you perfectly.  Many shoe manufacturers produce shoes in varying widths and half sizes.  If you know you have a shoe size that is not normally catered for in the mainstream, then find a company that will provide you with what you need for a perfectly fitting shoe.
There are companies that will sell you different shoe sizes for different feet.  A percentage of people have one foot a whole size smaller or larger than their other foot.  Their only alternatives are to buy two pairs of the same shoes in a different size or go to one of these specialist companies and purchase shoes for each foot in the correct size.  They must weigh up the cost of both and consider the style choice before deciding which course of action to take.

Most people have feet that are a lot easier to buy shoes for.  And we can take steps to make sure that our shoes are not ruining our health.

Make sure you have the correct size for your feet by buying from a company that offers half sizes and different widths.

Never buy a pair of shoes that ‘will stretch’ when you’ve worn them.  They rarely do and even if they do, you end up with a pair of shoes that looks like your feet have been poured into them.

If you really can’t find a size to suit your feet, visit your chiropodist and take his advice on what you should do.

If the shoes you have bought are only slightly too loose or too big consider buying a separate insole for the toe, heel or whole shoe.  You may only need a small filler to make your shoes comfortable.  In fact some people buy a pair of shoes a whole size larger than they need and put a full length insole inside.  This gives them the extra width they need and allows the shoe to fit snugly to their feet.

Lastly if all else fails, have a pair of shoes hand made especially for you.  They may be pricey but are fabulous and will last you years.
